When to Rotate Tires
You’ve probably heard that tire rotation is important. But how do you know when to rotate tires? Typically, every 3,700-5,000 kilometres is when most tires should be rotated. When to Rotate Tires and How to Do It
Did you know that tire rotation on all-wheel drive vehicles needs to be done more often than on vehicles with other types of drivetrains? FWD Car or Truck
- How many kilometres to rotate tires: 3,700-5,000
- Front left tire: rotate to rear right
- Front right tire: rotate to rear left
- Rear left tire: rotate to front left
- Rear right tire: rotate to front right
RWD Car or Truck
- How many kilometres to rotate tires: 3,700-5,000
- Front left tire: rotate to rear left
- Front right tire: rotate to rear right
- Rear left tire: rotate to front right
- Rear right tire: rotate to front left
4WD Car or Truck
- How many kilometres to rotate tires: 3,700-5,000
- Front left tire: rotate to rear right
- Front right tire: rotate to rear left
- Rear left tire: rotate to front right
- Rear right tire: rotate to front left
AWD Vehicle
- How many kilometres to rotate tires: 3,100 to 4,600 kilometres
- How to do it: Don’t! Schedule an appointment to have a professional do this.
When to Rotate Tires on a Dually Truck
You should rotate the tires on a dually pickup truck just as often as you would on other vehicles. The main difference is in how it is done, as you are dealing with six tires instead of four. Follow the steps below:
How to Rotate Tires on a Dually Truck
- How many kilometres to rotate tires: 3,700-5,000 kilometres or every six months
- Front left tire: rotate to rear left (outside)
- Front right tire: rotate to rear right (outside)
- Rear left tire (inside): rotate to front left
- Rear left tire (outside): rotate to rear left (inside)
- Rear right tire (inside): rotate to front right
- Rear right tire (outside): rotate to rear right (inside)
