Why is My Car Leaking Water?

If your car is leaking water or your car is leaking some other clear fluid, it’s usually just your air conditioner venting condensation. It’s not unusual to see puddles of water leaking from under your car. That said, take a moment to read over our list of other possible causes, because, in some cases, this can be serious. If you find that you’re in need of a service diagnostic in greater Grand Prairie, reach out to the Southview Acura service centre for help in Edmonton.

Possible Reasons Why Your Car is Leaking Water

Is your car leaking a clear fluid, or there are puddles of water leaking from your car on your driveway in Fort McMurray? If so, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the possible causes:

  • Take a sheet of paper and place it beneath the leak. If the hue is blue, yellow, or green, it’s likely radiator coolant, and not water.
  • If the puddle water leaking from under your car is substantial, it’s possible that you’ve blown a gasket, and your engine block is burning coolant along with gas. In this case, expect white smoke trailing from your exhaust and large amounts of leakage.
  • If you suspect your car is leaking coolant, double-check your coolant reservoir to see if the levels have dropped. If it’s low, you’ll want to head over to our service centre asap.
  • If the leakage is clear but not quite the same hue as water, it could be a leak from a crack in your windshield wiper fluid tank. These cracks can form over winter and start leaking in early spring. The hue of the fluid is clear but with a bluish or greenish tint, and the fluid often leaks around the front tires.
